How to Empower Your Health

by Jeff Baldock, BA, BSW, MA, MSW

Our bodies are meant to serve us, but oftentimes, we take them for granted. We forget that our bodies are what carry us through life and that they need proper care and attention in order to function at their best. If we choose not to take care of our bodies through healthy living, we will always end up frustrated and ill. Being healthy is not just about avoiding illness, it's about feeling good and having the energy to enjoy life to its fullest.

To be healthy, it is important to make sure we are fueling our bodies with nutritious, healthy food. This means choosing natural, whole foods over processed, packaged foods. Our bodies are meant to be alkaline in pH balance, and many harmful foods such as coffee, sugar, alcohol, cigarettes, chips, and a lot of red meat can create acid in our bodies and disrupt this balance. Stress can also have a negative impact on our pH levels. Eating a diet rich in fresh, raw vegetables and leafy greens can help turn our bodies alkaline and improve our overall health.

Exercise is another important aspect of maintaining a healthy body. Regular physical activity can help improve heart health, boost energy levels, and reduce stress. Exercise can also help improve our overall mood and mental well-being.

Incorporating a green smoothie into your daily routine is a simple and delicious way to add more vegetables and fruits to your diet. Green smoothies are a great way to pack in a lot of nutrition in one drink and can help alkalize the body. Consider adding ingredients like spinach, kale, cucumber, and green apples to your smoothies for a boost of vitamins and minerals.

In conclusion, taking care of our bodies is essential to living a happy and healthy life. By choosing nutritious, whole foods and making physical activity a priority, we can give ourselves the best chance of feeling good and enjoying life to the fullest.
